The Impact of Apprenticeships

Apprenticeships provide a practical and effective way to build a career. Long associated with traditional crafts and manual trades, apprenticeships today have evolved. They now embrace various industries, emerging as a cornerstone for skills development in the 21st century. Rapport3 invests in apprentices and believes combining work experience with training can enhance team skills.

The New Face of Apprenticeships

Modern apprenticeships have shattered the old stereotype of being exclusive trades like carpentry or plumbing. Today, sectors such as technology, finance, healthcare, and digital marketing are increasingly adopting the apprenticeship model. This change reflects how our economy is evolving and the growing need for real-world, practical experience in different areas.

Why Apprenticeships Matter

1. Bridging the Skills Gap: Apprenticeships directly respond to the skills shortage in many industries. By combining on-the-job training with classroom learning, apprentices gain relevant and up-to-date skills.

2. Accessible Education: They offer a cost-effective alternative to traditional education pathways. Apprentices earn while they learn, reducing the burden of student debt and making career advancement accessible.

3. Boosting Employment: For many, apprenticeships are a direct pipeline to employment. Companies often hire apprentices full-time after completing their program, offering a seamless transition from education to employment.

4. Supporting Economic Growth: Apprenticeships are crucial in driving economic growth by developing a skilled workforce. Skilled workers boost productivity and innovation, fostering a more competitive and robust economy.

Rapport3’s Apprenticeship Program

Since 2016, Rapport3 has had over 10 team members complete their apprenticeships, many of whom still work with us today and add incredible value to the team. Let's hear from some of them about their experience completing their apprenticeship with Rapport3.

Isaac Edwards Headshot

"The apprenticeship program with Rapport3 was one of the best decisions I could have made for my career. After leaving school, I was still deciding on going down the university or apprenticeship path. I soon settled on the apprenticeship path after finding Rapport3 and have never looked back!  I completed my apprenticeship after two years with the company and have worked at Rapport3 for over five years. During this time, I have gained extensive knowledge and experience in my work fields. I recently worked in Australia for a year with our APAC clients. It was a great experience that I never expected when I joined the apprenticeship program. - Isaac Edwards, Customer Experience Manager.

Sam Baston Headshot

"My apprenticeship with Rapport3 has been an enriching journey, propelling my skills and professional development. The hands-on experience, invaluable mentorship, and exposure to diverse projects have honed my technical expertise and fostered a profound understanding of organizational dynamics. Rapport3's unwavering commitment to elevating customer experience has shaped me into a versatile, forward-thinking individual." - Sam Baston, Junior Software Developer.

Junjie Liang Headshot

"Becoming an apprentice through Rapport3 is one of the best choices I've ever made. I highly recommend it to anyone unsure of their next step in life. Since starting this apprenticeship, I've learned something new daily, gained new skills and discovered new interests. An apprenticeship scheme doesn't just teach you but also gives you the experience of working in the real world, which is an experience that everyone benefits greatly from. Quite often, it can place you in a better place than people who have gone to university." - Junjie Liang, Senior Software Support Consultant.

Conclusion

Apprenticeships are experiencing a renaissance, offering promising career development and skill acquisition pathways. As the world of work continues to evolve, so must our approach to education and training. By investing in apprenticeships, we can create more opportunities and a successful future that is skilled and inclusive for all.
