Hawkins\Brown has received approval from the local government for plans to establish a new life-sciences campus consisting of 15 buildings in Stevenage. The project is estimated to be worth £900 million.
The project is called ‘Elevate Quarter' and has been created for UBS Asset Management and Reef Group.
UBS and Reef have stated that the campus has the potential to generate as many as 5,000 employment opportunities. The campus aims to establish a globally renowned, eco-friendly, and inter-connected hub for life sciences.
Referred to as one of the most extensive life-sciences campuses in Europe, the Elevate Quarter will also include the UK's Cell and Gene Therapy Catapult.
Hawkins\Brown partner and healthcare sector lead Ewan Graham said the practice’s proposals would provide flexible and adaptable buildings that promote active lifestyles, aid collaborative working and allow firms to grow without having to relocate.
Construction is expected to start later this year, and the completion of the scheme’s first phase is targeted for the end of 2025.
