Rapport3 client FaulknerBrowns has completed the £57m Ravelin Sports Centre for the University of Portsmouth.
The facility is a model for energy-efficient sports facilities in the UK. It has a 25-meter swimming pool, a sports hall with eight courts, a fitness suite, studios, squash courts, and climbing facilities.
It aims to serve both the university and the wider community. The architects designed the building to serve as a welcoming gateway between the university campus and Portsmouth's old town.
Notably, its operational energy consumption in its first six months was significantly lower than that of a typical sports centre. The sustainable design includes natural light, air heat pumps, and a bio-solar roof, and is accessible to everyone. It is inclusive and eco-friendly by design. The design also prioritizes creating a welcoming and uplifting experience for all visitors.
We have been empowering FaulknerBrowns’ projects and streamlining their finances since 2007.
